Richmond firefighters arrived around 4 a.m. today at Woodville Elementary School, in the 2000 block of North 28th Street and found one of the school’s playground’s in flames. […] It will not be known until mid-week, at the earliest, if the entire playground equipment will need to be replaced.
The playground at George Mason Elementary School burned in June of 2009. W.E. Singleton, a retired real estate investor and local philanthropist, helped cover the cost of the replacement.

It was stolen once after the trash people came last Thursday, but they’ve stolen our replacement one today […] I’m just wanting to know if anyone else is experiencing this and if there’s extra 709 trash bins hanging around the hill. A pick up truck with four or five trash bins was seen by my neighbor today.
Starting this Tuesday from 6-9PM (and returning weekly), the roving collection of food trucks and carts will be gathering in the parking lot of Ronnie’s Ribs across from Millie’s. In addition, a Church Hill Neighborhood TruckaPalooza has been set for Friday, September 14, at the Robinson Theater.

The “coming soon” to Broad Street Proper Pie says that they are just over a month away from opening the doors, and have launched a Kickstarter fundraising campaign:
Some of you out there might have heard of us, but for those that haven’t, or don’t know what we consider to be a proper pie; it is a delicious savory-style pie common in regions of the world like New Zealand and Australia. It’s a hand-sized, hand-held, handmade meat and/or veggie pie that can serve as a snack or a meal. Our goal is to bring that kind of pie to this part of the world, Richmond, Virginia.
It’s a crucial time and our goal for opening is just over a month away. There are still a few more major purchases to make, and commercial kitchen equipment is certainly not cheap. Plus, we need the most important part: ingredients! So we are reaching out to ask for your help.
